Doula

You might be thinking;

‘Do I really need a doula?’
‘What can a doula bring to my birth or post-natal period?’
‘Surely my birth partner can be my doula?’

I get it, I’ve been there! I didn’t get a doula for my first birth and it’s the only thing I regret. After labour starting at 10pm, it didn’t take long for myself and my husband to both be exhausted!

We both stayed strong and he was an incredible advocate for me and our baby, but I wish I had that extra person in my corner, who solely had my best interest at heart, alongside all that magical doula knowledge.

There is strong evidence that doula support improves outcomes for both the birthing person and their baby, including:

• Reduced risk of Caesarean birth

• Reduced risk of instrumental birth

• Reduced need for painkillers or epidural during birth

• Reduced rate of induction of labour

• Shorter labour

• Increased parental satisfaction with the birth experience

• Lower incidence of depressive symptomatology

Doulas aren’t here to advise you on what your ‘should’ or ‘shouldn’t’ do, we’re here to provide you with the information and evidence, allowing you to come to your own informed decision that you can feel confident in.

Providing you with continuous care throughout your pregnancy, labour and in to the post-natal period, we provide flexible, practical and emotional support, totally tailored and unique to you.

If a woman doesn’t look like a goddess during labour, then someone isn’t treating her right.
